MAD's ability is being able to expand chaos and darkness in peoples hearts, the more he does it the stronger he grows. However the stronger he gets, the more of his sanity he loses. He started to refer to MAD as that is what slaughtered victims would call him before they lost their lives. With his sanity escaping his grip by each day, he no longer remembers his real name.
